In 2012 I had the opportunity to visit other schools in the North Island while on sabbatical leave. All of these schools were at varying stages of working of using SOLO taxonomy in the observation of learning outcomes and how to improve them within their school. The file below outlines my observations at that time. Since then Rangiora Borough School has gone through much the same process and is still trying to implement SOLO across the school. We have had PD from Pam Hooks which has proved valuable and ongoing support from resources and some PD. We need to fully implement some common practices across our school and are slowly working towards this.
As we work in smaller PODs and begin to take more of a MLE approach to classroom teaching it becomes evident that their will be greater sharing of ideas and ways to keep SOLO alive and a top choice within our school programmes.
